Council Access:

China is one of the most exciting countries in the world with a population of 1.3 billion people. Many of whom who will probably visit the UK at some point in their lives, or work in companies that have international connections and has the interest to learn about the west. The UK is one of the most sought-after countries for Chinese students as they wish to study aboard. As a result, when they arrive they develop a passion and enthusiasm for our country. As does every Chinese student that studies in our city or region, consequently this is a brilliant opportunity for the council to connect with Chinese students.

We believe that relationships with China will be an important part of the UK’s future development. Because of this ACUK are providing all the support possible to help councils around the UK to fulfil the potential of establishing great foundations through a sister city partnership with China. We have seen first-hand how a positive relationship can result in economic and cultural development. Therefore, we want to do as much as possible to help!

Developing the educational links with your Chinese partners will improve the chances of investments. This is because they will view it as indicative of your commitment to the partnership. Showing long-term investment in the education sector of your area and increasing Chinese cultural awareness in the future generations will result in benefits for your relationship. As a result of you showing dedication to the partnership by sharing educational practices, it will only strengthen your relationship. Therefore welcoming students and staff exchanges to increase cultural understanding between our two countries will also help the partnership.

ACUK is the leading educational organization in the UK that enables city partnership development through sister school programs. From 2014 we have been working with up to 100 schools, currently enabling over 30 schools with exchanges of staff and students. We are currently successfully supporting Liverpool, Wirral, Warrington, Nottingham, and Cardiff local authorities. We are helping to develop their international initiatives.
